So I’ve been looking around at cameras for some time. I love the form factor of my Nikon D80 with the external battery pack but I’ve had it for a couple of years and, even thought it’s still a great camera, it’s getting kind of old. I bought a Nikon D3100 for it’s ability to shoot HD video on a DSLR platform and I’ve been pretty happy with it, for the most part. I’ve just never been able to get used to having to move my thumb to hit a button then turn the command dial to change the f-stop. Dual command dials is something I’m used to, it’s part of my work flow and it works for me. Unfortunately Nikons just didn’t match up to the Canon’s and the Canon 5d Mark II had stolen the show as the premier video machine. Then last week Nikon released the D4 into the wild and I fell in love. It’s a beautiful platform with all the features and functionality I want, the right weight and the images are…suffice to say…stunning. Don’t believe me? Check out today’s 20 Second Look Away entitled Istanbul by Bill Frakes and shot exclusively on the Nikon D4.
